The Land of Records

The best-known Emirates are Dubai and Abu Dhabi - this is also where you will find most of the world's records.

  • Bur Kalifa - the world's tallest building
  • Dubai Mall - the world's largest shopping mall
  • The Palm - the world's largest artificial island
  • Formula Rossa - the world's fastest roller coaster (240 km/h)
  • Ferrari World - the world's largest indoor amusement park
  • Emirates - airline with the world's largest fleet of wide-body aircraft
  • Ain Dubai - World's Tallest Observation Wheel
  • Burj al Arab - the world's only 7-star hotel (self-proclaimed) etc.

One of my many visits to Dubai was when they hosted the World Expo 2020/2021. It was a great experience.

When I'm in Dubai, I often hang out in the area around Jumeihra Beach and Dubai Marina.

The Seven Emirates

The United Arab Emirates borders Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

It consists of 7 Emirates.

  • Dubai
  • Abu Dhabi
  • Sharjar
  • Ajman
  • Fujairah
  • Ras Al Khaimah
  • Umm Al Quwain

The capital is Abu Dhabi.

Skyscrapers

Dubai and Abu Dhabi have lots of impressive skyscrapers.

If you pass by, take the time to see these impressive buildings.

The Dubai Marina district has over 230 skyscrapers over 100 meters, of which 73 are over 200 meters high.

Beach holidays are always a hit

You don't have to have children to have an excuse to visit great beaches, but it certainly helps.

I have personally enjoyed taking children with me on trips where the main purpose has been a beach holiday.

Jumeihra Beach in Dubai (above) is a fantastic sandy beach where the water is warm - nothing like the cold shivers here.

If you are going to Dubai - then find a hotel on Jumeihra Beach, close to The Walk.
